Free preview: Define useful data

A dataset is useful for a particular decision, not simply because it is large. A sales forecast needs consistent order dates and quantities; a support assistant needs current, approved answers. Write down the decision, who will act on it, and which errors change that action. In a sample order table, an empty delivery date could mean an open order rather than missing data. Establish the meaning before filling blanks.
